Introduction

This Phillip Nova review answers one question: should a trader trust this broker with real money? Based on publicly available information as of November 2, 2026, the answer is a qualified yes. Phillip Nova, operated by Phillip Nova Pte. Ltd. and registered in Singapore, holds an active Capital Markets Services licence with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) under company registration number 198305695G. The broker operates its retail platform at https://www.phillipnova.com.sg.

The firm opened in 1983 as Phillip Futures. It became Phillip Nova in January 2022 and belongs to PhillipCapital Group. It matters today because few MAS-licensed brokers offer forex, CFDs, futures and stocks from one account. Its footprint centres on Singapore, where it still accepts new clients. Under our four-factor methodology, it lands in the Silver Standard band with a composite score of 65.1 out of 100.

Regulation & Safety

Phillip Nova is regulated by MAS, and that regulator passes all four of our floor tests. The licence is genuine, but the client protections have gaps that traders should weigh.

Is Phillip Nova legit? Based on publicly available information, yes. The MAS Financial Institutions Directory lists Phillip Nova Pte. Ltd. as a Capital Markets Services licensee and an exempt financial adviser. Its permissions cover securities, exchange-traded derivatives, over-the-counter derivatives and spot foreign exchange for leveraged trading. A third-party reviewer read the directory on 24 September 2026 and saw a record last updated on 20 September 2026.

MAS earns Tier 1 status. The regulator explicitly licenses leveraged forex, so the activity test passes. Its rules set minimum margin of 5% for retail clients, which equals 20:1 leverage. That is tighter than the 30:1 cap on major currency pairs in the European Union and Australia. The firm states that client money stays separate from its own funds. Furthermore, MAS publishes enforcement actions across the industry. One directory service recorded no action against Phillip Nova in the past five years as of 29 April 2026.

Regulator Name Tier Status License Number Key Client Protections
Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Tier 1 (On-shore) Capital Markets Services licence; entity registration 198305695G. The licence number is not printed on the firm’s site, so verify it in the MAS directory. Minimum margin of 5% for retail clients (20:1) and 2% for accredited investors (50:1); MT5 close-out at 20% (50% for accredited investors); client money segregation; mandatory Customer Knowledge Assessment for CFDs and forex

Is Phillip Nova safe? Mostly, with caveats. The firm warns that losses can exceed deposits. It also states that an account may show a deficit after liquidation. That means traders should not assume negative balance protection. We also found no investor compensation scheme for leveraged products in the sources we reviewed. Moreover, Phillip Nova holds a single regulatory licence, so it offers no second regulator as a fallback.

On live warnings, Phillip Nova does not appear on the MAS Investor Alert List. We found no past licence cancellations. Geographic limits do apply. Forex and CFD accounts require clients to be 21 or older. Clients aged 18 to 21 can open stocks and ETFs accounts only.

Execution Quality & Trading Costs

Phillip Nova’s advertised pricing beats the industry average the firm itself cites, but we found no verified execution speed data. Costs on the main forex account are spread-only.

We could not confirm any average execution speed in milliseconds. Likewise, no documented slippage rate turned up and no published data covers stability during high-impact news. A third-party panel held no fill-time measurement for the firm as of 24 September 2026. Clients place orders through the platforms or a dealing desk, and the desk offers support 24 hours on weekdays. Affiliates of the firm run on Integral’s trading technology, according to Finance Magnates. A maintenance window on 11 July 2026 spanned four hours, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and the firm expected no downtime.

The firm does not state its execution model in the sources we reviewed. We therefore cannot label it ECN, STP or market maker. Traders should ask the dealing desk before depositing.

Account Platform EURUSD Spread Commission Retail Margin
Phillip MT5 MetaTrader 5 From 0.6 pips (indicative minimum) against a firm-cited industry average of 0.8 pips None 5% (20:1)
NOVA multi-asset NOVA, TradingView Forex from 0.8 pips across 31 pairs (advertised minimum) None on forex 5% (20:1)

One standard lot of EURUSD costs at least US$6.00 round turn at 0.6 pips. The same lot costs US$8.00 at the 0.8-pip industry average the firm quotes. These figures are advertised minimums, not measured fills. The firm’s own copy calls them indicative.

Phillip Nova fees go beyond spreads. Positions held overnight pay or earn swap. Currency conversion costs roughly 0.05% to 0.12% on popular markets. US shares carry 0.01% commission with a US$3.88 minimum per order. Singapore online share trades cost 0.08%. We found no published account maintenance fee or inactivity fee as of the date of this review. No withdrawal fee appears in the sources either. However, local deposit routes such as PayNow and FAST accept Singapore dollars only.

Trader Reputation & Market Presence

Public sentiment toward Phillip Nova is moderate and mostly positive, and its MAS record shows no enforcement action in the sources we checked. Mobile app feedback is weaker than platform feedback.

Under our four-factor methodology, we reviewed regulatory disclosures, independent review platforms and trader feedback.

TradingView rates the broker 4.0 out of 5 from 682 ratings, as of 1 November 2026.

The Apple App Store shows 3.4 out of 5 from 11 ratings. Google Play shows 2.8 out of 5 from 78 reviews. WikiFX gives a score of 6.11 out of 10. CompareForexBrokers scored it 48.3 out of 100 on published information alone, and it ranks 11th of 18 MAS-licensed firms there. That score excludes costs and execution, which the site left unscored.

Positive themes recur. Reviewers praise the MAS licence, zero commission on forex, a 30-day demo and the firm’s long history. Complaints centre on weak app ratings, limited funding currencies, the absence of MT4 and the risk of account deficits. We found no systemic reports of withdrawal blocks, sudden suspensions or support loop traps in the sources reviewed. That absence is not proof, because feedback volume is small.

Corporate developments shape the picture. Phillip Futures changed its name to Phillip Nova in January 2022 after winning its own securities licence in 2021. In September 2025, the firm launched its first pair of Phillip Nova-branded leveraged and inverse ETFs on the Singapore Exchange. Phillip Nova itself has not been acquired, and we found no acquisitions by it. Its group has been active, though. PhillipCapital UK agreed on 24 November 2025 to buy Walker Crips Group for about £5.96 million, or 14 pence per share. The UK Financial Conduct Authority approved the deal, and the scheme took effect on 3 March 2026. That transaction does not change Phillip Nova’s MAS licence. It does show a parent willing to commit capital abroad. We did not adjust any rating because of it.

Strengths & Weaknesses

The broker’s strengths are regulatory standing and zero-commission pricing. Its weaknesses are thin disclosure and limited loss protection.

Phillip Nova Review: Where the Broker Stands Out

  • Tier 1 oversight: MAS licence covering leveraged forex; no enforcement action found against the firm
  • Low entry barrier: S$0 minimum deposit; free 30-day demo
  • Competitive pricing: 0.6-pip EURUSD minimum against a firm-cited 0.8-pip average; no forex commission
  • Platform choice: Phillip MT5, NOVA and TradingView
  • Product range: Over 700 instruments on MT5, including 40+ forex pairs, shares, indices and crypto CFDs

Phillip Nova Review: Where Traders Should Be Careful

  • No guaranteed negative balance protection: The firm warns that losses can exceed deposits
  • Unverified execution: No published latency in milliseconds or slippage rate
  • Undisclosed execution model: No ECN, STP or market-maker label found
  • Narrow regulation: One licence, from one regulator
  • Funding limits: PayNow, FAST, DBS/POSB bill payment and eNETS accept SGD only
  • No MT4: Only MT5 for MetaTrader users

Phillip Nova fees look low on paper, and Phillip Nova is safe in the narrow sense that MAS supervises it. Safety still depends on how much leverage a trader uses.

Overall Verdict

Phillip Nova earns the Silver Standard band with a composite score of 65.1 out of 100. Tier 1 regulation and a clean enforcement record carry the score. Unverified execution and a small review base hold it back.

The platform suits Singapore residents aged 21 or older who want a MAS-licensed account for forex, CFDs and stocks together. It also fits traders who value zero commission over ultra-low raw spreads. However, it does not suit traders who need verified millisecond execution, MT4 or negative balance protection. Among peers, a sister firm, Phillip Securities, advertises a 0.3-pip EURUSD minimum on its CFD product, which undercuts Phillip Nova’s 0.6 pips. Larger global brokers also publish more execution data.

Phillip Nova is a MAS-licensed Silver Standard broker that offers zero-commission forex and CFD trading but publishes no verified execution data and does not guarantee negative balance protection.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes. Phillip Nova Pte. Ltd. holds a Capital Markets Services licence from MAS and is listed in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory. We found no MAS enforcement action against it as of the date of this review.

Yes. MAS regulates it, and that regulator sets 20:1 retail leverage and 2% accredited margins. It holds one licence, from one regulator.

It is safer than offshore brokers because MAS supervises it. Losses can still exceed deposits, so beginners should use a demo first. The firm offers a free 30-day demo.

Forex and CFD trading on Phillip MT5 carries no commission. The cost is the spread, from 0.6 pips on EURUSD, plus overnight swap. Currency conversion runs roughly 0.05% to 0.12%.

The firm states a minimum first deposit of S$0 for individual and joint accounts. A trade still needs enough funds to cover initial margin.

Expert Review Notes (Staff Insight)

Entity naming deserves attention. The PhillipCapital Group runs several similarly named firms, including Phillip Nova Pte Ltd, Phillip Securities Pte Ltd and PhillipCapital UK. A trader must confirm which entity signs the account agreement. The MAS directory lists the Singapore head office at unit #06-00 of Raffles City Tower, while the firm’s site shows #07-01. That gap is minor, but it is worth a question to support. One demo consent form on the firm’s site still names the legacy entity, Phillip Futures Pte Ltd.

Marketing and practice differ in small ways. One promotional page is titled as a zero-spread, zero-commission offer. The product page advertises a 0.6-pip minimum that it calls indicative. Elsewhere, the site says client funds are safe because of MAS regulation, while its risk disclosure admits deficits are possible. We treat the disclosure as the binding statement.

Account routing is opaque. The firm offers self-execution and a call-in dealing desk but names no execution model. Our audit team could not test live fills, so the Execution Quality score reflects missing data, not measured weakness. Support hours cover weekdays only, which suits forex but not weekend crypto CFD traders. The firm shows no hidden account fees in our review, yet conversion charges sit inside the exchange rate and are easy to miss.
