Introduction

TrioMarkets is a legitimate, regulated CFD broker, but this TrioMarkets review finds its fees high and its offshore arm weakly protected. TrioMarkets, operated by EDR Financial Ltd and registered in Cyprus, holds an active license with the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under license number 268/15. The broker operates its retail platform at https://www.triomarkets.eu. European clients get real safeguards there, yet the firm paid a €50,000 settlement to CySEC in January 2026.

Founded in 2014 and based in Limassol, the group serves European clients through CySEC passports and international clients through a Mauritius entity at https://www.triomarkets.com. It has pushed into Africa through a 2024/25 sponsorship of Nigeria’s Enyimba FC. The group matters because it shows how the split-entity model works in practice: strong rules in the EU, lighter rules elsewhere. As of the date of this review, the broker is operating and accepting new clients. Its final classification is Bronze Standard, with a composite score of 59.50 out of 100.

Regulation & Safety

Is TrioMarkets regulated? Yes, but your protection depends on the entity that opens your account. The CySEC-licensed arm earns Tier 1 status under our framework, while the Mauritius arm does not.

Regulator Name Tier Status License Number Key Client Protections
CySEC (Cyprus), licensee EDR Financial Ltd Tier 1 268/15 Segregated client funds, negative balance protection, 1:30 retail leverage cap on major pairs, investor compensation fund up to €20,000
EU passports (BaFin, CNMV, CONSOB, ACPR, plus CMVM and AFM notifications) Tier 1 (same entity) BaFin 143165, CNMV 3946, CONSOB 4175, ACPR 60724 (per DailyForex) Same CySEC-based protections for clients in those countries
FSC Mauritius (Triomarkets Capital Ltd, formerly Benor Capital Ltd) Tier 2 (mid-shore, per our framework) C118023678 (registration 160496) Segregated accounts, no compensation scheme, no mandatory negative balance protection, leverage up to 1:500
FCA (UK) Not counted 702759 (2023 listing) Unverified as of this review

Is TrioMarkets legit? The CySEC arm clears all four floor tests. CySEC licenses retail CFD trading, caps retail leverage, requires segregated client money, and enforces its rules in public. The enforcement record is visible. On January 9, 2026, CySEC announced a €50,000 settlement with EDR Financial after a board decision on December 1, 2025. The probe covered 2020 to 2024. It examined organisational requirements and the rules that restrict how CFDs are marketed and sold to retail clients. The fine is modest. Even so, it shows the regulator found possible breaches in product-intervention rules.

CySEC also announced a separate €50,000 settlement with a firm named Benor Capital Ltd. That case concerned the authorisation requirement between September 14, 2020 and September 16, 2024. The name matches the Mauritian entity that earlier public listings named as the TrioMarkets licensee. The CySEC notice alone does not confirm that the two are the same company. We treat the link as probable but unverified.

Is TrioMarkets safe? For EU clients on the CySEC entity, safety is adequate. The compensation fund pays up to €20,000, which matches the EU baseline, and retail accounts carry negative balance protection. The Mauritius arm sits at the other extreme. It offers up to 1:500 leverage, which is 16.7 times the CySEC cap, and it has no compensation scheme. FinTelegram warned that EEA residents who register offshore lose fund and ombudsman access. Its review dated October 27, 2022 also found that deposits were possible before identity checks.

Geographic limits apply. DailyForex lists the United States, Israel, Iran, Indonesia, North Korea and Belgium as excluded countries, and EarnForex adds Romania. The FCA reference appeared in 2023 listings under the post-Brexit temporary permissions regime. The FCA said it would not extend that regime past December 2025. We could not verify any current UK permission, so we do not count it. Based on publicly available information, we found no cancelled TrioMarkets license.

Execution Quality & Trading Costs

TrioMarkets does not meet industry benchmarks on pricing, and it publishes no verified data on execution speed. DailyForex put its costs at up to four times those of competitive brokers.

The firm markets itself as an ECN/STP broker. WikiFX classes the CySEC entity as STP. TrioMarkets also claims dark pool liquidity and fast fills, but those are corporate claims. Retail clients trade on MetaTrader 4 only, with the in-house TrioXtend add-on, a web terminal and a mobile app. Extras include MAM/PAMM modules, FIX API access, VPS hosting and social trading.

As of the date of this review, we found no audited latency figure, slippage rate or news-release stability test for TrioMarkets. Independent tests by CompareForexBrokers recorded market-order speeds of 77 to 100 milliseconds at ECN peers such as Fusion Markets and Pepperstone. The MQL5 community rates anything under 100 milliseconds as excellent. TrioMarkets offers traders no number to compare. We therefore scored execution at a neutral level and flagged low confidence.

Pricing is easier to measure. The table below shows EURUSD costs from DailyForex’s testing, which Broker-Forex’s June 2026 update confirms for the entry tier.

Account Typical EURUSD Spread Commission Per Round Lot Approximate Cost Per Lot
Basic (under $5,000)2.4 pips$0$24
Standard ($5,000+)1.4 pips$0$14
Advanced ($25,000+)0.0 pips minimum, 0.4 average$11about $15
Premium ($50,000+)0.0 pips minimum, 0.4 average$8about $12

A Basic trader pays about $24 per round lot. The raw-spread tiers charge $8 to $11 in commission. DailyForex called that structure among the most expensive it had reviewed at those balances. Better prices also require larger deposits, a design that rewards big accounts and penalises beginners.

Non-trading TrioMarkets fees add more. The inactivity fee is $30 per month after three months, triple the $10 monthly charge used as the baseline in our framework. Broker-Forex’s June 2026 update lists a 3% card deposit fee and a 1.5% bank transfer fee. Withdrawal fees conflict across sources. DailyForex reported 1.5% to 3% plus third-party costs in 2023, while Broker-Forex lists no withdrawal fee in 2026. Traders should confirm the live schedule before funding. The minimum deposit is $250 per DailyForex, although other aggregators list $100, and the offshore entity lists $500. The demo account expires after three months.

Trader Reputation & Market Presence

Public sentiment is split. Trustpilot users rate the broker highly, while analysts and complaint aggregators raise cost and withdrawal concerns.

Under our four-factor methodology, we reviewed publicly available regulatory disclosures, independent review platforms and trader feedback. Trustpilot shows a rating of about 4.3 to 4.5 out of 5 across 67 reviews. That sample is roughly one tenth of the 697 reviews on the profile of the similarly named but unrelated TIOmarkets. Trustpilot also notes that TrioMarkets has not sent recent review invitations, so the score may not represent all clients.

Positive themes recur. Reviewers from mid-2025 praise a responsive platform and quick support, and one describes fast withdrawals. Complaints are fewer but sharper. One reviewer waited days for a trading adjustment. Another alleges thin onboarding checks. WikiFX describes a small number of serious complaints about delayed withdrawals, voided profits and account bans. It scores the broker 6.25 out of 10, well below the 9.10 it gives IC Markets Global, and it tags the operating region as suspicious. DailyForex rates TrioMarkets 1.2 out of 5, driven mainly by cost. Its 2023 data shows a retail loss rate of 78.23%, which sits in the high band that most EU CFD brokers disclose.

Corporate developments are limited. We found no acquisitions, mergers or divestitures involving TrioMarkets, either as buyer or target. Leadership has changed. Longtime CEO Andrey Kalashnikov left in August 2023 after eight years. The UAE expansion arrived in early 2023, and its MENA chief left for YaMarkets in 2025. The group also launched TrioFunded, an in-house prop trading brand backed by the Mauritius entity. None of these moves changed our numerical ratings.

Strengths & Weaknesses

TrioMarkets Review: Where the Broker Delivers

  • Tier 1 oversight for EU clients: CySEC license 268/15 plus passports in six EU markets
  • Meaningful safety net: Compensation fund up to €20,000, matching the EU baseline, with negative balance protection
  • Visible regulatory enforcement: CySEC settlement published January 9, 2026, showing active supervision
  • Useful extras for active traders: MAM/PAMM, FIX API, VPS hosting and social trading on MT4
  • Competitive raw pricing at high balances: $8 per lot commission on Premium accounts with $50,000+

TrioMarkets Review: Where the Broker Falls Short

  • High trading costs: 2.4 pips on Basic accounts, up to four times competitive brokers per DailyForex
  • Unverified execution: No published latency, slippage or news-release data versus 77 to 100 millisecond peer tests
  • Weaker offshore protection: Mauritius entity offers 1:500 leverage, no compensation scheme and no mandatory negative balance protection
  • Costly administration: $30 monthly inactivity fee, 3% card deposit fee, conflicting withdrawal fee data
  • Narrow platform choice: MT4 only, no MT5 or cTrader
  • Regulatory history: €50,000 CySEC settlement covering 2020 to 2024

Overall Verdict

TrioMarkets earns a Bronze Standard rating with a composite score of 59.50 out of 100, just below the Silver threshold of 60. Tier 1 regulation lifts the Regulation & Safety score. High costs, missing execution data and the offshore split hold the rest down. The firm has a clear path to Silver if it publishes verified execution statistics and trims its fees.

The platform suits EU residents who want CySEC protection and already hold $25,000 or more, where commissions drop to $8 to $11 per lot. It also suits managers who need MAM/PAMM or FIX API tools. Small-balance beginners will find better value elsewhere. Against peers such as Swissquote, GO Markets and FXPrimus, which Investing.co.uk lists as comparisons, TrioMarkets sits behind on cost and level on basic regulatory strength.

TrioMarkets is a Bronze Standard, CySEC-regulated forex and CFD broker that offers adequate EU client protection but high trading costs, unverified execution quality and weaker offshore safeguards.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes. EDR Financial Ltd holds CySEC license 268/15, and CySEC published a €50,000 settlement with the firm on January 9, 2026. The fine shows active supervision rather than an absence of oversight.

The EU-facing entity is regulated by CySEC and passports into several EU states. The international entity, Triomarkets Capital Ltd, is licensed by the Mauritius FSC under C118023678, which offers weaker protection.

Clients of the CySEC entity get segregated funds, negative balance protection and compensation of up to €20,000. Clients of the Mauritius entity get no compensation scheme. Check which entity appears in your client agreement.

Basic accounts cost about 2.4 pips, or $24 per round lot, with no commission. Raw-spread accounts charge $8 to $11 per lot. An inactivity fee of $30 per month applies after three months, and card deposits cost 3%.

Expert Review Notes (Staff Insight)

Entity layering is the main nuance. One brand serves two legal entities with very different protections, and the website a client lands on decides which one applies. The CySEC settlement with Benor Capital Ltd for the 2020 to 2024 authorisation period suggests that cross-border sales have drawn regulatory attention. We could not confirm that this is the Mauritian entity, so readers should treat the link with care.

Marketing and practice diverge in places. The firm advertises 0.0 pip spreads, yet those only arrive with deposits of $25,000 or more. Most retail clients pay about 2.4 pips. Sources also disagree on the minimum deposit, instrument count and withdrawal fees. Counts range from 100 to 450 instruments. That inconsistency points to stale or region-specific disclosure.

Routing is another open question. The ECN/STP label sits oddly beside commission-free accounts with a 2.4 pip spread, which suggests a marked-up pricing model on entry tiers. Without published fill statistics, we cannot confirm how orders route.

Name confusion also matters. TIOmarkets is an unrelated broker, and its complaints, reviews and a 2022 British Columbia warning should not be attributed to TrioMarkets. Some aggregators blend the two firms. We excluded all TIOmarkets data from our scoring.
